Adventure Club

Adventure Club (“AC”) has been formed out of Noukhada Adventure Company’s six year experience with Abu Dhabi residents and schools and the realisation that children share Noukhada’s passion for the environment, the water and low environmental impact activities  |   AC is open to children and teenagers from 9 to 18 years old seeking new things to do in the coastal waters and sheltered marine environment of Abu Dhabi, UAE  |   The concept for AC is that children have an opportunity to experience a variety of activities, over a ten week period, and have the chance to see if they like that activity enough to take it to the next level  |   The children will be in age grouped teams of 8 to 10 children and will spend ten weekly sessions learning about kayaking, sailing, dragonboating and archery tag  |   The emphasis is on doing the activity rather than the theory so, it will be outdoors, on (or off) the water and physically demanding  |   The groups of 8 to 10 children can be from different schools or residential areas and this is an opportunity for children to mix and socialise with a completeley different set of people  |    Alternatively, a group of 8 to 10 friends, of similar age, can sign up to the NAC as a Group  |      Age groups: Group 1, 9 to 13 years old; and Group 2, 14 to 18 years old.   |     The group sizes are restricted to 8 to 10 because this is an optimum number for both teaching the activity and supporting the safety  |     Activity programme  |   The first AC programme will cover: kayaking (3 sessions); sailing (3 sessions); dragon boating (2 sessions); and archery tag (2 sessions)  |     Dates and days Sep to June every year.  Each group will meet on either a Mon, Tue or Wed.  That group will then meet every subsequent Mon, Tue or Wed for a total of ten sessions  |     Timings 3:00pm to 4.30pm (winter timings)  |     Membership fee AED 1,250 for ten sessions.  The membership fee lasts for ten sessions (normally over ten weeks).  NAC membership starts on the date of the first session attended and ends on the date of the last session  |     Benefits Whilst children are members of NAC (over the ten week period) they get, for themselves, 50% off any Noukhada activity that they book and participate in during the ten week life of their NAC membership.  This is designed to encourage them to further pursue one, or all, of the activities  |     Locations The AC sessions will take place at our launchpoints  |     Delivery and collection Parents or guardians must deliver and collect the children from the launch point.  Only one parent  |     Supervision and safety Our lead guides are BCU (British Canoe Union) or ICU trained and certified, as well as first aid qualified.  Noukhada has a safe track record and we are happy to discuss the risk assessments made in the for each activity with parents on site.  |     Health and Safety Policy  |     Child protection  |     Physical intensity All of the activities will require a level of physical activity  |     Terms and conditions: Payment; Waiver; Behaviour; Turning up; Safety  |     Other benefits We hope to inspire children to go on to do more activities and perhaps organise their own, through Noukhada.  These other activities could include, for example: Kayak rolling; Sea kayaking; Surfski training; Canoe or kayak sprint training; Windsurfing; Stand Up Paddling (SUP); Advanced sailing; Sailing races; Kayak orienteering; Geocaching; Dragonboat racing; Archery tag league; Dolphin watching; Kayak mystery night tour; Full moon tour; Overnight camping; Kayak mangrove expedition; Snorkeling; ADEC GIS mangrove inquiry; and so much more…
